Maybe Columbus was looking out to the sea when curiosity struck him to discover a new land… Being on the seacoast of the Italian Riviera makes Genoa so wonderful. I think any place located along the sea is definitely beautiful. Genoa is the largest seaport in Italy and according to history, the Black Death was imported into Europe in 1347 from the Genoese trading post in Crimea on the Black Sea – so we could say that this is the gate that opened for the plague.
