Earth: A man and his carabao preparing the soil or mud to be used and made as a pot/ jar at Burnayan (a pottery shop) in Ilocos, Sur.

Water: My nephew checking out the wonderful sight under the pristine seawaters at Morong, Bataan.

Air: a group of trumpeters giving so much air from their body to play whole-heartedly at Kadayawan Festival in Davao City.

Fire: A fire-eating man giving a show on the street during the Higantes Festival at Angono, Rizal.

Being an archipelago of 7,107 islands, there is no doubt that the Philippines were known to have some of the finest beaches all over the world. And for this week’s travel theme by Ailsa, I’m presenting a few of the beaches that I’ve been to here in our beautiful country.

Summer Flower #04: Spider Lily.

Spider Lily is one ordinary name for the many different species of plant that fall under the family Amaryllidaceae. This particular one is within the Lycoris genera, which is specifically named Lycoris sanguinea or the Orange Spider Lily. And obviously, I had a grand time taking it’s photos (with the whole album that can be viewed on my Facebook page.)

This is part of a dance drama by the Balinese depicting the a battle between the mythical characters Rangda, the witch representing evil, and the lion-dragon representing good known as Barong. The dancers express the story through the fingers, hands and body gestures to head and eyes movements.

Heavy traffic anywhere in Manila is not an unusual thing, and I don’t know anybody from anywhere who enjoys being caught in traffic. But getting on top a building and looking down at them like they’re toys is a way to enjoy the irritating heavy traffic.

Gardenia or Gardenia jasminoides is a shrub with greyish bark and dark green shiny leaves. They are known here in the Philippines as “Rosal” with the white flowers the bloom during summer and are highly fragrant.

Now also known as Dendrobium culcullatum, this orchid is best planted on a tree branch to make a waterfall of blooms. The petals seem to sparkle when the sunshine hit them and they have this fuzzy yellow lip.

It’s summertime. And during this season there are some plants that bloom in our garden. I’m so glad that the unbearable heat of the sun doesn’t stop them from coming out. Though I just assume that this is a kind of daylily, I know for sure that it is a lily.
